About
During major public events like the Festival de la Luz, Cruz Roja Aserrí stands out by deploying multiple emergency response posts across San José Centro, ensuring rapid assistance when the city is at its busiest. This local branch of the Costa Rican Red Cross is known for its active role in reducing fatalities during high-risk periods such as Semana Mayor, despite a rise in emergencies. Volunteers and staff work around the clock, handling everything from traffic accidents—an effort that has cost the organization over ₡7.8 billion this year alone—to large-scale rescue operations. With 140 years of humanitarian service, Cruz Roja Aserrí continues to adapt, recently acquiring new ambulances and rescue equipment through community support and heritage donations. Visitors and residents alike benefit from their presence, whether seeking information about volunteering or needing urgent medical help. A perfect 5.0 Google rating reflects the trust and appreciation this organization has earned in San José Centro.
